Boats For Sale
Buying boats at a boats for sale yard or private sales can give a great deal of satisfaction if you find a good bargain, but can also cause a lot of heartbreak if you find you have spent your fortune on a lemon. There are both perils and joys in the air when you visit boat yards offering used boats for sale.
First the joys: there is nothing like being able to afford nothing more than a tiny tinny but getting the opportunity to look round a fabulous Horizon luxury cruiser and give the impression that you can afford to buy it - or even a dozen of them if you wanted. The peril is that you get carried away with yourself and make a bid that cannot afford, not for the Horizon, but for a two deck small cruiser that would involve you mortgaging your home.
It's easily done when people get themselves carried away in the excitement of a good boat sale where all the models are there: the Mustangs, Haines and Malibu ski boats. However, if you are there to check out a couple of tinnies then stick to that. If you are there for a small fishing boat forget the flybridge. Enjoy checking them out, but then bid on the boat you came to buy.
There are some other things that need done, such as having the boat checked out by a professional, particularly if the cost warrants it. If it has an engine then have that checked, because that could be expensive to replace or repair. Once you are happy with the boat, and it does everything you want of it, then make your bid and hopefully purchase it. However, it isn't finished yet.
Boat Storage
Where are you going to store it? Will it fit your garage or does it need a marina or a berth somewhere. Do you need a trailer (another expense), and if so what kind and what size. Is it easily launched or do you need any equipment to help you? These are all questions you have to have the answers to, preferable before paying for the boat. Used boat sales are not run by professional salespersons that will ask all of these questions - you have to know what to ask in advance.
Boat Sales
It is evident, then, that there is more to buying boats than just turning up to a boat seller, buying a boat and then driving home with it. You have to make sure that the seller actually owns the boat, check it over to satisfy yourself that it is what it is claimed to be, making sure it is not damaged and that the motor works, and make sure that you can get finance on it. Then you have storage and transport to consider and finally the insurance.
It might sound like a lot, but don't let it put you off because it will all be done fairly quickly if you use a good firm for your boat finance and insurance. Need a place to start? Try Boats to Buy Boat Sales Online for a great selection of new and used boats for sale.
